Two British boxers hit the headlines this weekend, but for all the wrong reasons, as no doubt those of you with a Boxing Monthly magazine subscription will already know!
David Haye and Dereck Chisora got into some hot water after Chisora lost his match against defending WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in Munich. The boxers clashed when Haye entered the post-match press conference and goaded Chisora.
A fight then broke out, with Haye punching Chisora in the jaw before the two were pulled apart. Dramatic stuff! Reports are now being made that both boxers could find themselves arrested for their behaviour.
Obviously, readers of Boxer Monthly magazine will know that not all boxers behave quite so badly out of the ring and both boxers seem more than a little sheepish.
In a statement Haye said he would “happily assist the boxing authorities with any investigation they wish to launch”.
He added: “I realise I am no angel - and don't mind a bit of professional trash-talk to help raise boxing's profile - but, during my 21 years in the sport, I have never been involved in, or even witnessed, such a serious fracas.”
