At first it seemed like Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Mel B AKA Baby, Ginger and Scary Spice would be bringing some of the Spice Girls’ biggest hits back to the stage – along with a handful of new tunes perhaps. But after a period of fervent speculation, things quietened down considerably, with Geri having another baby and rumours arising that former-bandmate-turned-fashionista Victoria Beckham was looking to take legal action to prevent the trio from performing the 90’s girl group’s biggest hits.
After Mel B’s messy split with husband Stephen Belafonte, however, it appears the partial reunion – with the girls now going under the acronym G.E.M – may well be back on. A source has told the Sun that “Stephen was always an unnerving presence. Now he’s out of the way, fun will return.”
Not much else is known about the possible reunion, brought together to celebrate 20 years of the Spice Girls, but with the recent return of Bros and Steps, there’s already been a precedent for the triumphant return of the crème de la crème of 90s pop.
