As 2016 draws to a close, have we finally been given the superstar-couple we never even knew we needed? Canadian star Drake – whose recent single, One Dance, has just become the first song to be streamed over one billion times on Spotify – has appeared to confirm a long-rumoured relationship with Jennifer Lopez with a sweet snap on Instagram.
The plot thickened ever more when it became clear that the 30-year-old rapper’s long-term ex-lover Rihanna had unfollowed Lopez on social media, sparking speculation that the Work-songstress may not be all too enamoured with Drake and J-Lo’s well publicised tryst.
Despite these social media shenanigans, Drake’s had a pretty good 2016 by all standards, and it was recently announced that he was Spotify’s most streamed artist for the second time running.
“Drake has been unstoppable this year – he’s a true global superstar,” said Spotify’s Chief Content & Chief Strategy Officer, Stefan Blom. “With the top album and the top song this year, as well as his successful Summer Sixteen tour, Drake continues to engage his fans in a way that only Drake can; it’s no surprise he is dominating the music industry.”
And as well as finally securing a constant place at the top of the charts, Drake and J-Lo’s blossoming relationship is sure to mean more attention in the months to come.
