Sienna Miller tells Esquire phone-hacking is 'such a raw nerve'

Sienna Miller talks to Esquire about phone-hacking, getting back with Jude Law and her happiness with Tom Sturridge and baby Marlowe.

Sienna Miller’s name has been in the news over the past few days as former News of the World employees are on trial at the Old Bailey in relation to phone-hacking. They allegedly listened to Daniel Craig’s voicemail, on which Miller and ex-boyfriend Jude Law allegedly left voicemails confirming that she and Craig had had an affair.

Speaking to Esquire in the latest March issue, Miller says she has some choice words about the phone-hacking scandal. “It’s so personal, it’s such a raw nerve, it had such a massive effect on me, on my life and career, that I don’t know what would come out of it except I will kind of vent, in a fury,” she says. “Believe me, there is a torrent of abuse I would love to hurl at half of their faces. But there are more eloquent people. I don’t trust myself. I’m too volatile.”

Miller’s relationship with Law was highly publicised – especially after Law confirmed he had cheated on her with his children’s nanny leading them to split. However, the pair reunited back in 2011. Miller says that despite it not working out the second time, it was a cathartic experience.

“When something ends in a way like that, it’s important if you can, in a way, go back and revisit it and either shut that door or create a new room,” she tells Esquire. “So it was a very healthy, cathartic experience. And I think it paved the way for both of us to have great futures with no animosity or drama. Such a huge relief, to heal that. And I’m great friends with him and with his children. I love them, madly. Just huge love and respect for all of them.”

However, the actress tells the magazine she couldn’t be happier in her life now, with boyfriend Tom Sturridge and baby daughter Marlowe. ‘I feel really settled,’ she says. ‘I have a wonderful life. I’m up every morning with a little baby. That gives you incredible perspective. It’s such a gift. And it’s grounding in a way you can’t describe. And going back to work is really exciting and fun.”

On Tom she says: “He’s the antithesis of me, really. And that’s a first for me, to be in a relationship with someone who’s in a lot of respects very different. He’s the perfect balance to my lunacy, which makes him sound really boring but he’s not, at all. It’s good, it works.”
