If you have the Guardian and the Observer newspaper subscription then you would have seen the interview with Alexandra Shulman, the current editor of British Vogue.
Shulman has been at the helm of one of the world’s biggest fashion magazines since 1990 and has helped launch the careers of some of the biggest names in fashion - including everyone from supermodels and photographers to the world’s best fashion designers.
Whilst putting Kate Moss on the cover back in 1993 may have made history, she knows that nowadays it’s the celebrity shoots that get people to buy the magazine, but there’s one celebrity she won’t ever put on the cover and that’s Jennifer Aniston.
According to an interview in The Observer magazine, Shulman said: "Somebody like Jennifer Aniston will only do an interview with copy approval and picture approval. I've never had anybody on the cover, ever, who's had copy approval and picture approval. I just don't think it's a proper thing if you do."
It seems that these days many celebrities are determined to keep their public image exactly as they want it, by ensuring that nothing that can be construed negatively is ever out there – whether that’s a bad photo or an interview that can be taken the wrong way.
"It's this thing of people just basically treating you… as if you're bound to be doing something that is in some way going to be insulting to their client. I just find that so offensive," says Shulman. Even if Aniston is one of the best-selling cover stars EVER, Shulman won’t be working with her any time soon.
We have to wonder which other celebs get the final say on their whole magazine piece and which just allow the professionals to do what they’re good at? Who knows! But we know we’ll be more aware when we read celebrity interviews.
