Remains confirmed to be Richard III

Excavated remains from a council car park have been confirmed as bones of King Richard III.

We’re sure those of you with a subscription to BBC History have heard about the recent excavation under a council car park in Leicester, where Greyfriars church once sat. Remains that have been found were suspected to be those of King Richard III.

Now scientists have confirmed that the remains are, in fact, the monarch who was killed in battle in 1485. Researchers have tested DNA found on the remains against living ancestors of the King and are confident that it is him.

A documentary on the excavation will be aired on channel 4 this evening, so be sure to tune in to find out all of the details.
