Every green-fingered enthusiast will have the Chelsea Flower Show (21 – 25 May) pencilled into their diary, but you don’t need to be a would-be Charlie Dimmock or Alan Titchmarsh to appreciate the splendours. In fact, one key theme of this year’s show is encouraging people to reconnect with nature with gardens celebrating the beauty of the natural world.
Seven-time gold medal winning designer Andy Sturgeon is back for show sponsor M&G Investments, drawing inspiration for his garden from nature’s power to regenerate. Multi RHS gold medal winning designer, Sarah Eberle returns to Main Avenue with a garden celebrating 100 years of forestry with The Forestry Commission. A celebration of the environmental benefits of trees, this time within an urban space has influenced the design of The Savills and David Harber Garden by Andrew Duff, and three gardens on Main Avenue this year represent striking natural landscapes.
Along with many other show gardens, ‘Space to Grow’ entries, artisan gardens, along with the delights of the great pavilion, there will also be one very special garden courtesy of a royal favourite. The RHS Back to Nature Garden has been designed by the Duchess of Cambridge and award-winning landscape architects Andree Davies and Adam White, of Davies White Landscape Architects.
The garden has been inspired by childhood memories that are triggered by the natural world, as well as special moments that will be created and treasured by families now and in the future.
If you’re blooming mad about nature then consider a subscription to The Garden magazine which also includes RHS membership for under £50 annually.
