Make your own moodboard

Looking to add a splash of colour to your room? If you've got an Ideal Home magazine subscription, you could find out how to create your own moodboard.

If you want to add a splash of colour to your room, try creating your own moodboard.

First, choose a base colour that represents a large proportion of space in your room, then, add the sample to your moodboard, Ideal Home magazine recommends.

Think about whether you want a "dramatic contrast, or an accent just a few tones away from your base colour". You can use the moodboard to mix and match a bit.

Put some accessories on the board, the magazine advises, to help pick a theme for your chosen colour scheme.

If you get colour right, everything's great, but it can go horribly wrong otherwise.

"Rugged textures are a must, as are bold red accents in the fabrics and accessories," advises Ideal Home magazine.

Recently, the publication revealed presenter Kirstie Allsopp had launched a new collection of bed linen.
