House Beautiful magazine subscription holders may be interested to hear the publication's prediction that the 1950s is set to make a revival in the world of home decoration.
According to the magazine, the UK's love for retro interiors has been driven by a combination of the hit TV show Mad Men and the recession.
Old-style fabrics, free-standing appliances and tailored upholstery are en vogue in the UK for 2010 and this month's House Beautiful cover features a 50s lounge.
'The 50s is back," explained editor Julia Goodwin. "Visiting a trade show recently it was crystal clear that the spindle-backed, tapered leg, wool-upholstery style of 1950s neat austerity furniture was everywhere."
She added that it is unsurprising due to the post-recession economic situation reflecting life in the 50s.
However, Ms Goodwin suggested that polished woods have replaced the heavy varnishes of the mid-20th century.
Meanwhile, House Beautiful recently released a list of iPhone applications that may help those with an interest in home design.
