A few weeks ago we mentioned that Olive magazine were on the search for Britain’s best pub pie and it seems they’ve also delved into what else us Brits love about pubs… and it isn’t necessarily the extensive wine list!
Nope, in a survey of over 1,000 people it was clear that we like a friendly landlord/landlady, great homemade food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. If you live n Yorkshire it seems that you have the best pubs in the country, followed by the South West and South East.
“At olive, we’re very particular about what makes a good pub – a fancy cocktail list and linen napery don’t cut it for us. There’s got to be room to eat in the bar area and we want to see snacks like scotch eggs and homemade pork scratchings chalked up on the blackboard. A pie is essential. It seems the nation feels the same, and this is the reason we want to hunt for the nation’s favourite pub pie.”
