Celebrity Masterchef Contestants Announced

The twenty new Celebrity Masterchef contestants have been announced for next month's opening show...but who will triumph in Wallace and Torode's kitchen?

20 famous faces will be stepping up to the plate and taking on the challenge of the Celebrity Masterchef kitchen next month, in a desperate bid to please the palates of master judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode.

The full list of participants was released this morning, with the biggest names being ex-Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison, pop stars Sinitta and Blue’s Simon Webbe and, for fans of Strictly Come Dancing, professional dancer Gleb Savchenko.

Ex-Eastenders Sid Owen and Laila Morse will also be hoping to take home the culinary crown, along with BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin, singer Jimmy Osmond and reality star Amy Childs of The Only Way is Essex.

The announcement comes on the same day the BBC have announced that they will be scrapping the BBC Food website, which currently holds over 11,000 recipes.

"This year's celebrities come from an incredibly mixed range of backgrounds and the diversity of their life experiences is reflected in their food," said executive producer Carla-Maria Lawson, who added that “This is one of the most passionate groups of celebrity cooks we've ever had on MasterChef."

As we know, however, it’s not passion alone that will take you to the coveted Masterchef trophy – only time will tell which celebs will pass challenges such as the Mystery Box Test, preparing dishes for paying customers, and wowing Torode and Wallace with their own two-course menu.
