Fall Out Boy: ‘Elton John encouraged album name’

Fall Out Boy tell Kerrang! how Elton John encouraged their album name and Patrick Stump's piano skills.

If Elton John gave you music advice, you’d definitely listen, wouldn’t you? Fall Out Boy definitely did anyway when it came to the name of their latest album.

Speaking to Kerrang! frontman Patrick Stump says that whilst collaborating with the musical legend, he offered them some pretty sound advice – including naming their fifth album, Save Rock and Roll.

"He got the song, he got the record, and he was really important in encouraging us on the album title and everything we were trying to do,” says Stump.

When it came to the song they were to collaborate on, Stump says that Elton was complimentary of his piane skills.

"The piano is actually my demo," he says. "I was sure we'd redo it, but Elton was listening to it and he was like, 'Ooh, who plays piano?' and I sheepishly raised my hand. He was like, 'Wow, you should play it more!' It was so crazy to have him on it."
