Whilst it’s not the best day for Rupert Murdoch, who is currently being questioned by MPs and attacked by protestors (with a shaving cream pie no less!), today has turned out slightly better for musicians Adele and Tinie Tempah who it has just been announced have been nominated for the prestigious Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize.
Adele has been nominated for her hugely successful album 21, which has already won numerous awards and Tinie Tempah’s Disc-Overy which is a favourite with music fans.
MOJO magazine tweeted the list of nominees to its followers earlier today. The full list of nominees also includes Anna Calvi’s self-titled album, Everything Everything for album Man Alive, Ghostpoet’s Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam, Gwilym Simcock’s Good Days at Schloss Elmau, James Blake’s self-titled album, Katy B’s On A Mission, King Creosote & John Hopkins for Diamond Mine, Metronomy’s The English Riviera, PJ Harvey’s Let England Shake and last but not least, 2008 winners Elbow for their album Build A Rocket Boys!
