19 Years Later: Harry Potter Fans Celebrate Important Date

Avid readers flock to London station to mark a very special first day of school.

Potter-mania struck Kings Cross St. Pancras once more this morning when excited fans gathered to mark September 1 at the famous 9 ¾ platform. But while September 1 is the same day the Hogwarts Express leaves the station every year, this one was more special than ever as it marks the day Albus Severus Potter, Harry’s son, leaves to attend the magical school for the very first time.

As written in the epilogue to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, On Friday, 1 September 2017, Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley travelled to King's Cross station with their three children, James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. They were also joined by Ron and Hermione and their children, as well as Draco Malfoy and son Scorpius.

Author of the famous books JK Rowling, marked the celebrated with a tweet, sparking the hashtag #19yearslater. “Today's the day Albus Severus Potter boards the Hogwarts Express at King's Cross for the first time.”
