Michelle Pfeiffer reveals she was in a cult!

Michelle Pfeiffer tells The Telegraph's Stella magazine about a cult she was part of.

If you have a subscription to The Daily Telegraph newspaper then you’ll have received Stella magazine this weekend, which features an interview with Michelle Pfeiffer, who is currently starring in The Family opposite Robert De Niro.

Pfeiffer remembers when she first moved to Los Angeles and become close with a couple who brought her into their ‘cult’.

“They worked with weights and put people on diets,” she says. “Their thing was vegetarianism. They were very controlling. I had to pay for all the time I was there so it was financially very draining. They believe that people in their highest state were breatharian.”

However, when she met ex-husband Peter Horton, he was researching for a role in a film about Moonies and she couldn’t help but notice the cult-like similarities.

‘We were talking with an ex-Moonie and he was describing the psychological manipulation and I just clicked.’ She quickly got out of there.

Despite having previously claimed that she wasn’t a fan of surgery, she confesses that her opinion may have changed over the years. “The loss of youth, the loss of beauty – it plays havoc with your psyche. I used to think I would never have surgery but I’m in the “never say never” camp now.”
