Piers Morgan Agrees To Be Silent On Twitter

The Good Morning Britain Presenter has agreed to be silent for one day to raise money for Comic Relief.

Presenter, provocateur and all-round social media loudmouth Piers Morgan has agreed to put down his phone and cease tweeting for one entire day providing people donate to Red Nose Day.

Lord Sugar was one of the first to pledge money to the "Shut Piers Up" campaign - donating £5,000. The Apprentice star described it as the "bargain of the century" in a video message posted on Twitter, adding: "It's going to be a wonderful day without that nutter clogging up Twitter with his nonsense for the whole day,"

Piers responded to his twitter rival with the message: "I'm now a 'Twitter Moment' because @Lord_Sugar paid £5k to silence me on Twitter. I believe this is called 'irony'."

A host of other celebrities have come out in support of the campaign, all funds of which will go to Comic Relief, including Robbie Savage, Emma Freud, and fellow BBC presenter Gary Lineker, who pledged £2000 provided Piers wear a Tottenham Hotspur shirt for the entire day. A request which the devoted Arsenal fan met with: “Aaaghhh. OK. Until 6pm.”

This year's Red Nose Day is Friday 24th March
