Since she broke out in 2009 as the odd but absurdly talented Rachel Berry in Glee, Lea Michele has barely left our screens and this year she will reprise her role as Hester Ulrich in the second series of hit horror comedy Scream Queens.
‘Right now, I feel physically in my best shape and emotionally in my best place,’ declared the actress on the set of her cover shoot for the Women’s Health ‘Naked issue.’ The glowing gym bunny is the perfect candidate for the mag, which is devoted to promoting wellness and body image positivity, though she is the first to admit that even she lacks workout motivation sometimes, but since discovering Soulcycle, staying in shape is easy.
“I’m not the kind of person who would go to the gym. For me, working out has to be good for my mind too, and when I leave, the endorphins are buzzing, I’m glowing and I feel like I can take on the world,” reveals the star, going onto explain that whilst she tries to keep her kitchen at home strictly vegan and gluten-free, she won’t deny herself the odd treat, be it a gourmet hamburger or the odd slice of pizza.
Whilst her rise to fame has been incredible it has also been punctuated with heartache following the death of her onscreen and real life boyfriend, Cory Monteith, who suffered a heroin overdose in 2013, making her appearance without clothes is made all the more poignant as it reveals the tattoos she has had in his honour, including ‘Finn’ and ‘5’ which were his Glee character’s name and quarterback shirt number respectively.
Lea has said in the past that Cory would want her ‘to live her life’ and it is evident that every day she tries to be the biggest and brightest version of herself in his memory, and when she has the odd ‘down day?’
'I accept those days as much as the happy ones,’ says Lea. '[I just] make some macaroni cheese, call my mom, pour a glass of red wine and watch some reality television. There's nothing that can't fix.'
