It's been two days since the Olympics ended and we're already at a bit of a loss as to what to do with ourselves. We do our hourly refresh of the BBC sports page and there's nothing to cheer us up, we got home from work last night and had to actually decide what to watch and we no longer see people trussed up in their Olympics t-shirts, bags, hats, Olympic Park passes and Olympic mascot on our daily commute. It's sad times.
It's a good job that a) the Paralympics start in less than a fortnight and b) Heat magazine have caught up with all of our favourite Olympic athletes so we don't have to say goodbye to them just yet!
Jessica Ennis has been in the public eye for years, featuring on more magazine covers, billboards and television adverts than we can count in the run up to the Olympic Games. Britain's love for her was quadrupled after she secured us the Gold Medal after winning the heptathlon.
Speaking to Heat about the support she's received the athlete said: "This has completely surpassed anything I could ever dream of. It's one thing winning an Olympic medal, but it's another doing it in your home country. I was completely taken aback. It was really overwhelming. There was so much positivity in the stadium." Other athletes including Dani King, Louis Smith, Peter Wilson, Beth Tweddle, Chris Mears and Tom Daley all wanted to thank Heat readers for their support during the Games.
Everyone's favourite female cyclist Victoria Pendleton also said: "The Olympics has quite literally been the ride of my life. I've been eating, sleeping and dreaming the Olympics for so long that it's hard to believe I've actually come through it. I keep pinching myself when I look at my medals. I couldn't have done it without my incredible teammates, trainers and all the amazing support from the British public. I know Heat has been very excited about the Olympics, so thank you to Heat and all your readers, too!"
Excuse us, we just need to go and get a tissue...
