Coleen Nolan Breaks Down Recalling Shane Ritchie’s Affair

CBB star reveals heartbreak and confidence woes on Channel 5’s In Therapy

In an episode filmed just before she entered the Celebrity Big brother house, Loose Women regular, Coleen Nolan, broke down in tears recalling how she hit rock bottom after discovering Shane Ritchie’s affair from their seven-year marriage in the Nineties.

“He was so brilliant at convincing me I was wrong. He would look me right in the eyes… and convince me I was wrong. He made me feel paranoid,” she said. “I remember that feeling of elation when I found out ... I went ‘Yes! I knew it… It was a feeling of euphoria before the absolute devastation hit me – he still convinced me to stay.”

The 51-year-old re-entered the Celebrity Big Brother house on Tuesday without her wedding ring, as she is treating it as a ‘trial separation’ from her current husband, Ray Fensome. Coleen admitted that she struggles to face conflict because she “can't be bothered” and will often leave but she refuses to stay with a man who isn't happy with her.

“I can’t bear the thought of someone staying with me if they’re not happy – [if he leaves] I’ll get over it,” revealed Coleen. “I’ve never really felt good enough for someone… I know Ray doesn’t fancy me… Oh my God I’m crying, I hate crying.”

Coleen’s fellow panellists on Loose Women have since expressed concern about their ‘vulnerable’ friend entering the house whilst in the midst of the marriage crisis, with Nadia Sawalha explaining: 'It was a very different thing last time she was in and now they [producers] have ratcheted it up, the crowds are hungry for blood and the psychological games. I am worried for her because I do think she is going to get a shock.'
