Bono damages spine

U2's Bono has damaged his spine, forcing the band to pull out of a number of concerts.

Fans of U2 may be devastated to hear that lead singer Bono has seriously injured himself while preparing for the band's tour.

According to Hello magazine, the Irish crooner was forced to have emergency surgery on his spine after the incident in Germany.

He was operated on in a Munich hospital on Friday and spent the weekend there, but will have to head back to Ireland to complete his recovery.

The next leg of the tour was set to begin in Salt Lake City in June, but has now had to be postponed.

It is as yet unclear how many of the forthcoming gigs will be cancelled and UK fans may be concerned at the prospect of U2 not appearing at Glastonbury festival, which they are set to headline.

The sold-out four-day festival begins on June 24th and will feature Muse, Stevie Wonder and Faithless, among other top acts.
