Iconic Covers: Kate Moss

As one of Britain’s greatest fashion icons Kate Moss has been wowing us for more than two decades and has appeared on hundreds of magazine covers; from her dewy days of innocence to her coronation as the high priestess of fashion, we pick our favourite Moss moments.

Vogue – March 1993

Aged just 19, Moss looks fresh faced and innocent in her first ever Vogue cover story, shot by Corrine Day. Since then Moss has graced the cover of British Vogue over 30 times, a remarkable feat for one of Britain’s greatest fashion stars.

Esquire – September 2013

Marking Moss’ first appearance on a men’s magazine in 17 years (the previous was Arena in ’96) the supermodel dazzled in a crystal-embellished, sheer body suit. Shot by Craig McDean, the theme of the issue was ‘Made in Britain’, so who better to grace the cover than fashion’s crown jewel?

Vanity Fair – December 2012

Channelling Brigitte Bardot, Moss is the picture of health in this sun-dappled spread with legendary photographers Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. In the corresponding interview she opened up about her tumultuous relationship with Johnny Depp and early days as a model, offering a rare glimpse into her life.

Elle – June 1994

On her first ever UK Elle cover, Miss Moss was truly an icon in the making. In a time when peasant tops and soft curls were all the rage, the shot offers a first glimpse of the fashion legacy yet to come.

W Magazine – S/S 2012

In this cover by Steven Klein, Moss may look angelic but this image is just one side of the story. As part of the ‘Good Kate, Bad Kate’ issue of W, the shoot explored all facets of the Croydon-born beauty, with stunning but chilling results.

AnOther Magazine - S/S 2016

Celebrating their 15th anniversary with their S/S16 Party Issue, it’s only fitting that Another feature the hostess with the mostess as one of their five, gorgeous cover stars.

Vogue – December 2001

Titled ‘A Royal Salute’ Ms Moss wore an embellished tulle dress by Giorgio Armani, and a replica Coronation crown whilst holding a sceptre. The image, shot by Nick Knight and styled by Kate Phelan, was designed to fuse fashion with symbols of power in the lead up to the Queen's Golden Jubilee the following year and was shortlisted by the Professional Publisher's Association (PPA) for the prestigious title of Cover of the Century.
